    Why Trust Us?

KitchenAid has a long-standing reputation for home kitchen appliances. KitchenAid ranges are packed with features but are on the lower-budget end of luxury kitchen appliances. Of all the KitchenAid ranges we offer at Idler’s, the KitchenAid gas range model KFGC506JSS is our favorite. This high-end gas range comes in at around $5,000, but for the professional (or amateur) chef, it’s worth every penny.

Here is everything you need to know to decide if this gas KitchenAid range is for you and reviews of features and benefits.

Who Should Buy a Kitchenaid Gas Range Model KFGC506JSS

A gas range is the preferred fuel type for professional cooks. Even home cooks with their own special recipes and those cooking for large groups can appreciate the temperature control of a gas range. This KitchenAid range has some great features that make these chefs even happier.

KitchenAid® 36" Free Standing Gas Range

The size of this KitchenAid 36” gas range is another reason it’s a favorite. If you have the space for the larger range, having the extra burners and a larger capacity oven are well worth the sacrificed space. With six burners, multiple grate positions, and dual flame burners, this commercial-style range is perfect for a high-functioning kitchen.

Features of the KFGC506JSS Kitchenaid Gas Range

Why does this range come with such a high price tag? Because it’s packed with features. This smart gas range meets all of your needs, even those you had no idea you had. Here are some of the best features of this gas KitchenAid range, divided by category and backed with customer reviews.

    Gas Range Features

The range features of this gas KitchenAid range are perfect for the avid cook. The six burners are covered with three grates.

These coated grates are adjustable with three height options to handle anything from a slow cook to a wok. The higher BTU burners have a dual flame, and all burners have auto reignition for both even cooking and safety.

Oven Features on the Kitchenaid Gas Range

This commercial-style KitchenAid 36” gas range has a large capacity oven of 5.1 cubic feet to handle multiple dishes. Like other KitchenAid ovens, this range makes use of the KitchenAid proprietary convection technology. Even-Heat True Convection ensures even convection roasting and convection baking. There is also an Easy Convect AI conversion system to make converting from a standard oven to a convection oven easier.

Kitchenaid Gas Range Model KFGC506JSS Smart Features

This KitchenAid range has every smart feature you could ask for, including voice-controlled settings. Monitoring your food, preheating, and other tasks can also be set remotely. Customers rave about the complex host of smart features.

    Love! Love! Love!

Purchased this range after our previous became unrepairable, have it for just over a month, and we LOVE it. It is stylishly functional. Easy to clean and wonderful to look on. Still learning all the gray but absolutely love the capability to link to the app and control the oven from my phone. Definitely happy with this purchase and will look at Kitchenaid the next time we need to replace an appliance for sure!”

It connects to your home Wi-Fi, integrates with the major connected home brands, and can be controlled through the KitchenAid app for smart appliances. With smart home integration, you can even set the oven to preheat while you’re on your way home with take-and-bake pizza.

Pros and Cons of the KFGC506JSS Gas Kitchenaid Range

Not everyone loves this range from the line of KitchenAid commercial-style smart appliances. This range is for homeowners with luxury kitchens designed to be ultra-functional for large meals and batch cooking. The price is not worth the features if you will not be using all of them. Furthermore, it takes a tech-savvy individual to set up the smart features.

You may also want to avoid this range if you have a smaller kitchen. The larger 36” sized range is also deeper than the average range. It probably won’t fit into a standard cabinet cutout, and you could find yourself bumping into it on occasion. Since the burner knobs don’t click into place, this could pose a safety hazard as the knobs turn accidentally. These knobs could also pose a hazard for homes with small children.

Great range; not recommended for homes with kids

“Have had this range for six months. I bake extensively, and this range is the first one I’ve ever had that heats absolutely evenly — no need to rotate items or move to different racks. The Wi-Fi feature is very handy, though I wish that there were also a digital display. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is because the gas burner dials do not “click” into place; we have accidentally turned burners on several times just by brushing up against them. Not an issue with us, but it would be a hazard for homes with children.”

Based on customer reviews, here are some additional pros and cons of this KitchenAid gas range.

    Pro: Flexible cooking features

The converting grates are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the flexible cooking features of this gas KitchenAid range. The range features six burners: three burners that put out 15,000 BTUs each, two burners at 20,000 BTUs for high temps, and one burner that is only 5,000 BTUs for simmering, melting, and warming without a double boiler. The oven itself has five rack positions to allow for baking or roasting multiple dishes at once.

Con: Coated porcelain convertible grates a problem for some customers

The coating of the porcelain grates seems to scratch easily and needs to be replaced before the warranty period. However, most customers do not have this issue. It is important to clean the coated porcelain grates properly to avoid damage to the grates and keep them looking beautiful.

    Pro: Easy-to-clean gas range

The gas range has sealed burners to make cleaning easier. The oven also has a hidden bake element to protect it from dishes bubbling over as they bake. The oven also has a self-cleaning feature that can be activated remotely while you’re away.

Pro: Great smart features even without connectivity with a smart home integration

The ability to control this gas range by voice command is extremely beneficial when cooking a large meal on your own. You can adjust cooking temperatures, start the oven preheating, and more without stopping your prep work. The app makes it easy to control these same settings remotely from anywhere in your home, even if you don’t have smart home integration. Programmed cooking modes and AI conversions make cooking even easier and faster.

Con: Some customers have issues connecting their smart gas KitchenAid range

Some customers have issues connecting the smart appliance to their phone, the app, or their smart home. It is important to remember that all devices must be on the same connection to be utilized remotely. This means that if you do not have smart home integration, your phone and smart gas range must be on the same Wi-Fi network to connect.

Experts at Idler’s Home can offer installation services for your new KitchenAid range, including connecting it to the Wi-Fi and/or your smart home. KitchenAid support is also helpful if you have issues connecting your smart range.
